Bio-Identical Hormones
Hormones are an important part of your body’s messenger system. These chemicals send signals to almost every part of your body. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), also known as bioidentical hormone therapy (BHT), is the use of hormones that are identical on a molecular level with endogenous hormones in hormone replacement therapy. Bioidentical hormones can be helpful for people who suffer from a hormonal imbalance or who might not make enough hormones naturally.
Before bio-identical hormones, synthetic hormones were traditionally the only option available. For optimal aging medicine, our clinic's physicians prefer bio-identical hormones whenever hormones are prescribed.
Bio-identical hormones have the exact same molecular structure as the hormones naturally produced by the human body. These hormones fit their own receptor sites (cell doors) and are not foreign to the human body like synthetic hormones. Most are plant-derived and are made by special compounding pharmacists.
